Citing its aim to “record all distinctive words that shape the language, old and new, formal and informal”, the OED said that slang terms were “always challenging” for dictionary editors to track. Unlike interventions with humans which tends to be judgmental and biased, animals tend to be more friendly and non-judgmental thus, facilitating more sociable behaviors than even more than the well-intentioned staff members (LaFrance et al., 2007). In an elderly home, residents are often found by themselves, with lack of interaction with others. Consequently, this leads to agitation, anxiety and depression which put them into a vicious cycle of lethargy, increased sleeping and minimal interaction. Other rehab activities such as speech, physical and occupational therapy can be repetitive and uneventful (Jackson, D. L., 2006). The changing identity 2 Identity, personality, self, selfhood, individuality are the words that make a difference between people. Changing identity is really important in point to form new people. People can change their personalities at any period of their lives. Always they change individualities when they move to the next step in their lives and they are in a new society. First, young people always want to change their identities when they start a college. So, when they finished high school, they wish to be free from their old identities and show themselves as new better persons. Jennifer Crichton (1984) in â€Å"The Allure of a Fresh Start† said, â€Å"Going away to college gives us a chance to rinse off part of our past, to shake off our burdensome reputations†(p. 239). The period when young people change their old high school identities and try new identities se called â€Å"an identity crisis. † For most of the students it is a difficult time when they know nobody and nobody know them. Moreover, changing identity would not be so simple and predictable. From the first day in a college, students did what they came to college to do as Jennifer predicate, â€Å"Anonymous, alone, without even a name, I would start over and become the kind of person I was meant to be: like myself but better, with all my failures, rejections, and sexual indiscretions†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (p. 240). Furthermore, she discovered tha t her friends change their relationship with their parents after September 11when disaster occurred. But it only means that trouble and trauma could group together all family members for keep them safe. Moor calls us to keep our relationship with our family all the time. In my opinion, we have to always communicate with our parents. I, like Moore, always want to leave my parents and want to be free from parental discipline. When I was a student and left my home, I always missed my family. At that time I cold not call them and saw them just two times a year. After my graduating, I went to work to the school that was near my home. However, I still miss my parents a lot while I have my own children. I changed my old identity when I want to be free from my parents and explored new self who really loves and miss the parents. In additional, people have some situation when they have to change their identity. For example, when they immigrate to another country, where everything is new for them, they have to adapt their old identities to a new environment. In my opinion, when you immigrate to another country you pass through a very difficult period in changing your identity. I am immigrant and I have experience of adaptation in new country. I know how uncomforta ble you could feel if you know nothing about a country, people and language. I was a teacher in my country but I had to start learn English in Canada so I became a student. I had to change my personality and tried to be like Canadian people. Now, after eight years leaving in Canada, I discover how I changed my personality. I am different person from my old identity. Getting to know your new identity can sometimes to be difficult. But I do not lose my old identity and I am new person with my old culture values. In conclusion, all three authors show to us how people can change their identities when they change their life style. Also they change their minds and beliefs, so they become new better persons and try to change their personalities without losing former.

Another time when Bessie was in a colored waiting room another drunken man came in and started mumbling random things when Bessie told him to shut up and go back to the white waiting room. Sadie later said she would have ignored the man. Finally the last example of how Bessie reacted was when she was working as a dentist and one of her classmates called her up and said he was going to send over a patient, at first she thought he was doing her a favor then he mentioned that it was his maid, his colored maid. Bessie worked on her out of sheer kindness but she never spoke to that man again, after yelling at him of course. Sadie would have forgiven the man for not being seen working on his â€Å"colored† maid and she certainly wouldn’t have yelled at him. Sadie has very different reactions but she also had different forms of racism to deal with. Once Sadie had a friend that invited her swimming and when her friend showed up with some white friends she just walked right by her and acted like she didn’t exist, but Sadie looked past that and forgave that friend. Bessie later said that she would never have forgiven the friend. Another time when Sadie was getting her teaching job she didn’t want to go to the meeting because she knew she wouldn’t get the job because she was â€Å"colored† so she just sent a letter back saying that she never got the letter and she showed up on the first day of school knowing it was too late to send her someplace else. Bessie would have gone to the meeting and asked why she didn’t get the job and prodded until she got the job or until she got thrown out. And finally during the Jim Crow days when Sadie was in a shoe store the â€Å"colored† folks had to go to the back to try on shoes and when the owner would tell her to go to the back she would say â€Å"where? Back where? † until the owner finally let her sit anywhere she wanted. Bessie would have fought back and just wouldn’t move from where she wanted to be. So Sadie and Bessie Delany both fought back against racism and won. Sadie won by faking stupid and ignoring it and Bessie won by standing up and acting out. The two women were very smart despite the character they played. So as growing up â€Å"colored† life was very difficult for these two women to grow up and lead a problem free life despite how hard they tried. Though they were very high status colored people and they had a lot of white people they were still judged as blacks so even though they moved to the north to get rid of some racism they could never actually get away from it.

In this day and age where Americans have a need to be treated as equal; equal opportunity employers, equal rights for men, women, African-American, Chinese-American, and every other group of people in this country, one would think that somewhere along the line children would get the message that we are all the same. Children should be taught to love, not hate. It is painful to see such a crime committed just for the mere fact that they were different. Didn't hate crimes end in the sixties? Why is it that still parents cannot or will not instill in their children ideals of an equal human race? This poor individual thought that paying the money would get someone to look at the book, fix it, and put it out there. I wrote him back and told him to forget about publishing and start learning how to write. If a vanity press tells him that the book needs work, dangthe book needs work. Time to suck it up and face the fact that his writing needs serious attention over a serious period of time until the book is as good as it can be. In other words Anyone can publish a book.
